I come from a family of naturally creative people. A fine art/gallery owning sister, a dad who owned a painting contracting business for 45 years, and a mom who is an Ikebana Master and interior decorating wizz. It was never really a choice.
Growing up there was always decoupage or mosaicing going on, wall paint techniques and floating wax paintings and the smell of paint and thinners everywhere. I can't explain what it is inside us, that we look at something and we see an awaiting canvas, but we just do.
I did art throughout my schooling, in my studies had graphic design as a subject and in general, I've always had a creative outlet be it art, photography, gardening, writing etc.
I was something I never took seriously until I had to; selling 13 pieces on the opening night of my first ever exhibition that I did on a whim.
Since then my paintings are in homes across the world, can crazily say i'm an internationally selling artist with artwork sold at an exclusive London Gallery, and even turned them into apparel. Who knows what is next!
It was never my intention to be 'versatile'. It was more about what I literally had on hand in that particular moment. A ballpoint pen to while away the hours with doodles that turned into full blown sketches. Watered-down acrylic paints when I wanted to provide some subtle emotion behind the paint version of the sketch. Then actually buy
Then actually buying watercolour paints to compliment it all. In short, I use whatever medium I feel will bring out the most accurate personality of my wildlife/animal subject.
I have also tried my hand at graphite, which scares me more than a ballpoint pen line that you can't erase. And photography, well, when there is so much life in your life, it's the only way to remember it all. I do not work in oils however as that is just a whole other kettle-of-fish!

Travelling and living in many different countries and climates influences everything in my life. As an adult I was beyond fortunate enough to turn travel and art into actual careers and what a joy in the times i've been able to combine them!
The incredible texture and designs that occur in effortlessly in nature has always been what inspires me. Designs evolved out of necessity, to show how each creature/natural thing is ready, willing and able to simply survive.
The wrinklier and 'uglier' the better. It's the funky and individual personalities I see that shine out of these rough exteriors. And try to capture. I hope you see it's nature, in nature.
I know I could spend my life trying to capture and replicate the scenes that nature displays effortlessly, and it would not be a wasted life
